Payment Depot Pricing and Fees: From Membership to Markup
Payment Depot built its name on published membership pricing with no markup on interchange. Under Stax, that price list is gone, replaced by account-by-account quotes. Here is what it used to cost, what it costs now, and how to check your own number.

What a 1.95% markup really costs
On $30,000 a month in card sales, interchange at about 2% plus a 0.2% markup is roughly $660. The same sales at a 1.95% markup are roughly $1,185, about $6,300 more a year, on what is still called interchange-plus. The structure is fine; the number is what matters. Same owner, different price. Stax, which owns Payment Depot, sells a monthly subscription with no percentage markup. See Stax fees and our Stax rating.
Common questions
What does Payment Depot charge?
Payment Depot now quotes interchange-plus pricing account by account, with a markup that reviewers report ranges from 0.2% to 1.95% above interchange, plus a $10 monthly PCI fee and no monthly subscription. It no longer publishes standard rates.
What were Payment Depot’s membership plans?
Before Stax acquired it, Payment Depot published membership plans of about $79, $99 or $199 a month with 15, 10 or 7 cents per transaction and no percentage markup on interchange.
Is a 1.95% markup a good rate?
No. Added to interchange, a 1.95% markup can put a merchant’s total cost above 4%, worse than most flat-rate processors. Interchange-plus only helps when the markup is small.
Does Payment Depot charge a cancellation fee?
Payment Depot has long marketed no long-term contract and no cancellation fee. Check your agreement, and check your statements after you cancel.
Is Payment Depot the same price as Stax?
No. Stax, which owns Payment Depot, charges a monthly subscription with no percentage markup. Payment Depot now quotes a percentage markup.
