Clover Fee Calculator: What Clover Costs You vs Interchange Plus
Enter your monthly card sales, average sale and Clover plan. The calculator shows what you pay Clover at its published direct prices, what the same sales would cost on fairly priced interchange-plus, about 2.25% all-in, and the difference over one year and five.
Interchange-plus assumption
Over five years: $0.
This is Clover’s best case. The calculator uses Clover’s published direct prices. If a bank or reseller sold you Clover, they set your processing rate and software fee, and many add an equipment lease. Your real cost is very often higher than the number above. Why your Clover price depends on who sold it
Clover is owned by Fiserv, and most Clover systems reach merchants through banks and independent resellers rather than directly. Each sets its own Clover fees. The same software can cost several times the published price, and the processing rate can be anything the seller wrote into the agreement. Our page on Clover fees explains who sets what.
The lease the calculator can’t see
Many Clover systems sold through resellers come with an equipment lease from a separate finance company, often 36 to 48 months and marked non-cancelable. A lease payment does not show up as a processing fee, but it is part of what Clover costs you, and it keeps running if you switch processors.
How the calculator works
Clover’s cost is your in-person sales at your plan’s rate, keyed and online sales at 3.5%, 10 cents on every sale, your plan’s monthly software fee and $14.95 for each extra device. The interchange-plus figure is your sales at about 2.25% all-in, which is what weAudit typically sees a fairly priced interchange-plus account cost once interchange, network fees and the processor’s markup are added together. Change the assumptions to match your own statement.

Common questions
How much does Clover charge per transaction?
At Clover’s published direct prices, 2.6% plus 10 cents for in-person sales on the entry plans, 2.3% plus 10 cents on the higher-tier plans, and 3.5% plus 10 cents for keyed and card-not-present sales. Merchants who bought Clover through a bank or reseller often pay a different rate set by that reseller.
What is Clover’s monthly fee?
Clover’s published software plans run from $0 for Clover Payments to $89.95 a month for the Table Service Restaurant plan, plus $14.95 a month for each additional device at the same location. Reseller pricing can be higher.
Why is my Clover bill higher than this calculator shows?
Usually because your Clover was sold by a bank or reseller that set its own processing rate and software fee, or because you are paying for an equipment lease. The calculator uses Clover’s published direct prices; your statement shows what you actually pay.
What does interchange-plus at 2.25% all-in mean?
Interchange-plus is a pricing model where you pay the real cost of each card plus a small stated markup. In weAudit’s audits, a fairly priced interchange-plus account typically costs about 2.25% all-in, with interchange, network fees and the markup together. That is the benchmark the calculator uses.
Is Clover cheaper than Square?
At published direct prices they are close. See our Clover vs Square comparison for the side-by-side, and remember that the bigger difference is usually who sold you the system and what you signed.
