Chase Payment Solutions Fees: The Biggest Acquirer, Selling a Flat Rate
Chase, formerly Chase Paymentech, is one of the largest merchant acquirers in the country. It moves billions of transactions a year at wholesale cost. To most small businesses, though, it sells the same bundled flat rate as the app-based platforms, tied to your Chase bank account.
Chase publishes a flat 2.6% plus 10 cents for in-person payments, the same structure as Square or Stripe. Interchange-plus is available, but mainly to larger merchants who ask. And the convenience of same-day deposits into Chase checking is also what makes leaving Chase, as a processor or a bank, harder.
Figures in brief
- 2.6% plus 10 cents: Chase’s published rate for tap, dip and swipe payments.
- 2.9% plus 25 cents: online orders.
- 3.5% plus 10 to 15 cents: keyed-in payments and payment links. Chase’s own pages list both figures.
- Same day: deposits into a Chase business checking account, at no extra charge.
- Custom pricing, including interchange-plus, for larger and more complex merchants.

What Chase’s flat rate costs a real business
Take a shop doing $20,000 a month in in-person card sales at an average of $50, which is 400 payments.
a month at 2.6% plus 10 cents: $520 from the percentage and $40 from the per-sale fee. Every card costs the same, whether it is a cheap debit card or a premium rewards card.
is the effective rate. In weAudit’s audits, typical blended interchange runs around 2.25%, so a meaningful share of every dollar is markup the statement never shows.
Why a giant sells small businesses a flat rate
Chase is one of the largest acquirers in the United States by transaction count. It knows exactly what each card costs, because it pays interchange on every one. A flat rate is not a reflection of its costs; it is a product designed to be simple to sell and simple to buy. The difference between what a debit card costs Chase and the 2.6% plus 10 cents it charges you is margin.
That is the same trade every bundled flat-rate platform makes. The only difference with Chase is that the processor is also your bank.
Your bank and your processor, in one place. Same-day deposits are a real benefit. But when your processing, your deposits and your banking all run through one institution, moving any one of them means moving all of them. Convenience is how you get in. It is also what keeps you there.
Can you negotiate Chase’s rate?
Yes, especially as you grow. Chase offers custom and interchange-plus pricing through its payments advisors, mainly to larger and more complex merchants. If you process meaningful volume, ask for interchange-plus in writing, and ask what the markup will be on business cards specifically. If you are on an older Chase Paymentech agreement, your statement may look very different from the flat rate above. Our guide to reading a Chase Paymentech statement explains it line by line.
How to lower what you pay with Chase
- Ask for interchange-plus once your volume justifies it, and get the markup in writing.
- Stop keying cards. Keyed payments cost 3.5% against 2.6% in person.
- Check your statement for extra fees on any product or plan beyond basic QuickAccept.
- Think hard before surcharging. See surcharge laws by state.

Common questions
What are Chase Payment Solutions fees?
Chase’s published small-business rates are 2.6% plus 10 cents for in-person card payments, 2.9% plus 25 cents for online orders, and 3.5% plus a fixed fee for keyed-in payments and payment links. Chase lists that fixed fee as 10 cents in some places and 15 cents in others.
Does Chase charge a monthly fee for card processing?
Chase does not charge a monthly fee for its standard QuickAccept processing, but QuickAccept requires a Chase Business Complete Banking account, which carries its own monthly service fee unless it is waived. Chase notes that monthly fees may apply to certain products and pricing plans.
Is Chase Payment Solutions the same as Chase Paymentech?
Yes. Chase Payment Solutions is the current name for the business formerly known as Chase Paymentech and Chase Merchant Services.
Can I get interchange-plus pricing from Chase?
Chase offers custom pricing, including interchange-plus, to larger and more complex merchants through its payments advisors. Small businesses are usually placed on the published flat rates.
Why are Chase deposits so fast?
Chase can deposit card sales into a Chase business checking account the same day at no extra charge. That convenience is also what ties your processing to your bank, and makes leaving either one harder.
Are Chase’s rates competitive?
They are close to the other bundled flat-rate platforms. That is the point to weigh: a flat rate charges every card the same price whatever it costs, so the savings on cheaper cards stay with the processor.
